For my QTVR class, Randy Church, Linzi Bergmann and I got together to make an interactive website that promotes awareness of The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Currently, 2 tons of plastic waste actually exists in the Pacific ocean that have been collected together through the wirlpool of wave currents. In the site, the users become Captain Scraps, who is collecting the plastic trash to trade in for money in Hawaii. In order to reach to Hawaii, he/she must play 3 different games on the map to collect trash, and help the sea animals from eating the trash. Our target audience is children from the age 7 – 14.
I am the main interface designer of the team, and above are the final comps of the shell I made. My talented team member Linzi is making the content of the games, animating the sea creature. Randy is our main programmer who’ll be developing this site! Randy is our original developer of the team, who also came up with many of the concepts of this project. As of January, Linzi and I have teamed up with 2 new developers Sam Brenner & Lindsay Burtner to finish the prototype of this project.
