Here is the final cup interface I made for the Sociable Table project.

Since our original idea was that talking cups could help you socialize, we decided to include speech bubbles that popped out from the cup whenever there was a message. Every cup on the table will have its own color.

The main menu system will be a pull down system that will have some physics involved, so that the users can interact with it better.

I remember waaay back when I found this free Windows program called Agony that made different ambience depending on what values you inputed. Since it is a free Windows software, the interface is amazingly crappy.. but we decided to use this so that the designers could make the ambience without having to code in processing.

Although Agony is a torturing software to use, its also nice that it renders animated ambiences in .mov files. We thought this would actually work great with my cup interface.

photo_teamprojectIn the midst of finish all my other projects, I’m also working on my senior project.

My senior team project is our thesis project in my major. It is a 2 quarter project where we get to make anything we want. My team decided to make the Sociable Table.

Based on the idea of “What if your cups could talk?”, the Sociable Table is a multi-touch table that helps people socialize in bar settings. When a cup is set on the table, your cup becomes the main navigation that connects you to others at the bar. You can doodle on the table with your finger, and send it to another person across the table. The table can initiate games that you can play with others, even if they are strangers.

The team members are Adam Butterworth, Matt Bruce, Andrew Sanjanwala, Luke Alessi, Alex Zack, Sam Sawzin, John Barbagallo, and me.

Using the Reactable technology, we are actually making a multi-touch table from scratch. The dimesions of the table is pretty big – we may be the first to be challenging this technology to this extent, both through developement and design stand point.

I got around to make the first prototypes of my business card!

I printed the designs on transparencies, and used a crop-a-dile to attach it with a 500 pound paper, and make a metal ring on on edge. I couldn’t find good keychains in the states.. but I found the perfect antique copper & brass keychains in Japan!!

I’ll have them shipped over soon enough, so I can start mass producing this business card… Super excited!!

I used to have an elephant print business card that was printed on heavy weight matte paper, but I got tired of it.. so I decided to make a new one! This time, the business card is going to be a square with rounded corners, with keychains attached! Sounds fancy?

I wanted to have variety in my business cards, so I also made 5 different designs that people could randomly get:

Last year, Randy Church and I created a project called CinemaFlash’08.

It is a collection of photographs distorted and reconstructed in 3D using Flash programming. We used flash to make a basic drawing tool that allowed you to draw over images, and save out the xyz coordinates of the lines. This was then imported into Cinema 4d to make 3D splines, which was used as an overlay & mask on the actual photos in Photoshop. This collaboration of Actionscript, 3D, and Photography created such a wonderful project, that we decided to do extended series using this technology.n24410628_33980123_1359561

This weekend, Randy and I went out to take photo shoots with our model, Laura Frastaci. We shot at a public museum, and weren’t allowed to bring in tripods… so I had to try my best to balance the camera on a chair.. haha

This piece is going to be included in our first series: “What makes you?”.
