To start, my Dynamic Persuasion Design class assigned us to make an interactive website. Mike Roushey, Jared Domonell and I decided to team up, and tackle this challenge together.
Eco Hero is an interactive adventure game. The game will feature a story about an alien living on a fictional planet in poor ecological health. This alien, controlled by the user, will become the hero of the story, fixing the separate issues and eventually saving the planet and rescuing his girlfriend in distress.
Each section of the player’s environment will take on the form of a different mini-game that focuses on a specific issue facing the planet. Through the games, the player can collect ‘eco gems’ & eco robot parts, that will eventually prepare them to fight the evil monster that has invaded the planet.
I am the art director, and the project manager of the team. Jared is our main shell developer, who will also be making two games. Mike is our character designer, and game developer. I made the two posters of the polluted & clean version of Eco Planet, where the story of Eco Hero will be taking place!
For my QTVR class, Randy Church, Linzi Bergmann and I got together to make an interactive website that promotes awareness of The Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Currently, 2 tons of plastic waste actually exists in the Pacific ocean that have been collected together through the wirlpool of wave currents. In the site, the users become Captain Scraps, who is collecting the plastic trash to trade in for money in Hawaii. In order to reach to Hawaii, he/she must play 3 different games on the map to collect trash, and help the sea animals from eating the trash. Our target audience is children from the age 7 – 14.
I am the main interface designer of the team, and above are the final comps of the shell I made. My talented team member Linzi is making the content of the games, animating the sea creature. Randy is our main programmer who’ll be developing this site! Randy is our original developer of the team, who also came up with many of the concepts of this project. As of January, Linzi and I have teamed up with 2 new developers Sam Brenner & Lindsay Burtner to finish the prototype of this project.
