designtest_1designtest_2I spent 2 days to work on a design test to design the front page of a ‘Next Generation Online Video Platform’. Similar web applications that were used as examples were youTube, AOL video, and CNN pipeline.

I decided to design a site that incorporated more of the features on CNN pipelines, with a focus on showing movies and tv shows like Hulu and Veoh. My goal was to make the site with minimal features necessary to keep a simplicity in the design. I started designing this after seeing Star Trek, hence why I was influenced to use a nebula image as my main visual lol I figured that this would also create a feel of ‘Next Generation’.

The second image is a collection of all the interfaces that I designed for the comp! A page full of buttons is so nice to have. I had alot of fun figuring out their rollovers/rolloff/on click states, too (even though that wasn’t required for the test).

blueredgreenWe tweaked the colors alittle to fit the color settings on the projection table. The most surprising thing was that, the green on the green interface is closer to cyan on screen, but it is closer to yellow-green on the projector!

Sam’s ambience came out really cool! Can’t wait to see all the pieces moving on the table!

For our Sociable Project, I designed a game roulette thats going to be in the center of the table that allows you to select a game to play with everybody. You can select a game by placing a cup in the center of the roulette, and rotating the cup with choosing different games.

Our developer Adam Butterworth decided that he wanted to program some physics engine, and make a digital air hockey! This is gonna turn out pretty sweeet!

Here is the final cup interface I made for the Sociable Table project.

Since our original idea was that talking cups could help you socialize, we decided to include speech bubbles that popped out from the cup whenever there was a message. Every cup on the table will have its own color.

The main menu system will be a pull down system that will have some physics involved, so that the users can interact with it better.

I remember waaay back when I found this free Windows program called Agony that made different ambience depending on what values you inputed. Since it is a free Windows software, the interface is amazingly crappy.. but we decided to use this so that the designers could make the ambience without having to code in processing.

Although Agony is a torturing software to use, its also nice that it renders animated ambiences in .mov files. We thought this would actually work great with my cup interface.

To start, my Dynamic Persuasion Design class assigned us to make an interactive website. Mike Roushey, Jared Domonell and I decided to team up, and tackle this challenge together.

Eco Hero is an interactive adventure game. The game will feature a story about an alien living on a fictional planet in poor ecological health. This alien, controlled by the user, will become the hero of the story, fixing the separate issues and eventually saving the planet and rescuing his girlfriend in distress.

Each section of the player’s environment will take on the form of a different mini-game that focuses on a specific issue facing the planet. Through the games, the player can collect ‘eco gems’ & eco robot parts, that will eventually prepare them to fight the evil monster that has invaded the planet.

I am the art director, and the project manager of the team. Jared is our main shell developer, who will also be making two games. Mike is our character designer, and game developer. I made the two posters of the polluted & clean version of Eco Planet, where the story of Eco Hero will be taking place!
