flower

Another simple 3D test I did with Mograph. I quickly modeled a rose, and placed lights over each point of the polygons. With this many lights, yes the render took about +20 hrs lol. I ended up patching 3 renders of the rose to give some contrasting in the brightness of the rose. Now that this gave a great result, I wonder if I can do some animations with it..

Spent sometime playing around with Cinema 4D today. I never knew Cinema had fracture tools in their Mograph that simply lets you break things apart! This was my result after being over excited about this new finding.

ciasposter_smallsize2Much thanks to Linzi for making the final render to this 5 feet long poster, we were able to submit it for RIT’s portfolio day! This poster represents RIT’s College of Imaging Arts & Sciences (CIAS) and its 7 schools of Art, Design, Print Media, Film & Animation, Photographic Arts & Sciences, School of American Crafts, and Foundations. This poster will hopefully be used starting this year – can’t wait to see it printed!

I decided to start on some personal projects now that I have more free time. Here’s a simple illustration of my friend Linzi. More progress work will come later!

innovateLinzi and I worked together to make a mailing poster that represented RIT’s College of Imaging Arts & Sciences (CIAS). We decided that we wanted to use the word ‘INNOVATE’ and model each letter to represent individual schools within CIAS. It’s not necessary a new concept, but we wanted to challenge ourselves to create some simple, yet awesome 3D letters out of different objects. First, we split the letters so each person modeled 4 letters. Linzi modeled INNO, and I modeled VATE. After couple of renditions, we decided to replace the I, second N, and E into less detailed models so that it encompassed the other complex letters. We touched up and textured each other’s models until the letters worked together coherently.

This is just a render of the 3D models without the content for the poster. It will eventually be a 4-5feet long poster that’ll be used for RIT’s portfolio day.
